Job Summary

This role will design, build, and support healthcare data pipelines and govern Agentic AI workflows that enable clinical initiatives, care management programs, population health operations, and value-based care outcomes.  This role will partner with clinical operations, Medical Economics, analytics, business, and technology teams to translate clinical workflow needs into secure, scalable, auditable data and AI solutions.

The Lead Solutions Engineer will work across Azure data services, SQL, Python, healthcare data platforms, and emerging Agentic AI frameworks to develop solutions that improve data usability, workflow automation, clinical decision support, and operational efficiency.  This role requires technical depth, strong documentation discipline, sound judgment with sensitive healthcare data, and the ability to apply emerging AI capabilities responsibly.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust healthcare data pipelines using Python, SQL, and Azure data services.
  • Design Agentic AI workflows with human-in-the-loop review, source traceability, audit logging, and role-based access controls for clinical and operational use cases.
  • Collaborate with clinical stakeholders to ensure AI workflows support clinical operations without replacing clinical judgment or required clinical review.
  • Build reusable data and AI components that can support clinical summaries, care gap workflows, risk stratification, member outreach, care management prioritization, and operational decision support.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes that integrate payer, clinical, EHR, care management, eligibility, claims, and operational data.
  • Support Azure-based data engineering patterns, including Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, and related Microsoft data platform services.
  • Implement validation and monitoring controls for AI-generated outputs to reduce risk of inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported responses.
  • Ensure AI workflows follow healthcare privacy, PHI handling, security, and data governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify healthcare and value-based care opportunities where AI-enabled automation can improve operational throughput, documentation quality, analytics delivery, or member outcomes.
  • Document and communicate technical design, data lineage, data mappings, validation rules, and implementation strategy for data engineering and AI solutions.
  • Participate in roadmap planning for future-state data warehouse, Azure modernization, data quality, and healthcare AI enablement initiatives.
  • Interpret healthcare data and business processes to translate requirements into scalable IT solutions.
  • Relate disparate datasets to extract actionable insights and support standardized reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and operational decision support.
  • Lead technical design for assigned data engineering and Agentic AI workflow initiatives from requirements through production implementation.
  • Define reusable patterns, standards, and best practices for healthcare data pipelines, RAG workflows, AI orchestration, and Azure-based implementation.
  • Develop monitoring, observability, performance measurement, and operational support processes for production AI and Agentic AI solutions.
  • Review technical designs, data mappings, and implementation approaches to ensure scalability, maintainability, quality, and compliance.
  • Maintain the security and privacy of all information owned by AbsoluteCare or maintained on behalf of the company’s patients, employees, and business partners.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, health sciences, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of healthcare data experience, especially in provider, value-based care, population health, care management, payer operations, eligibility, claims, EHR, or clinical data environments.
  • 5+ years of professional data engineering, analytics engineering, or healthcare data platform experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on SQL development experience, including relational databases, querying, stored procedures, performance tuning, data modeling, and production data quality controls.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Python experience for data engineering, automation, API integration, transformation, orchestration, or AI workflow development.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data services or Microsoft cloud platform patterns, such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Synapse, Fabric, or related services.
  • Hands-on experience developing and implementing AI-enabled solutions using Azure OpenAI Services, Generative AI, Agentic AI, RAG, vector databases, LLM orchestration frameworks, prompt engineering, model evaluation methodologies, and enterprise governance controls.
  • Understanding healthcare privacy, PHI handling, data governance, access controls, auditability, and secure data engineering practices.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, data warehouses, ETL/ELT design, data quality controls, and decision-support tools.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience working with technical teams, business users, clinical stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Strong documentation skills and a passion for transforming healthcare data into measurable clinical and operational outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with healthcare systems and standards such as eCW, Epic, Jiva, FHIR, HL7, HIE data, CMS reporting, HEDIS, Stars, or risk adjustment datasets.
  • Experience implementing Agentic AI solutions using frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with Git/GitHub, CI/CD, DevOps practices, automated testing, code review, and deployment controls.
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure AI Engineer, or related Microsoft certification preferred.

Company Description:

Why Work at AbsoluteCare?

At AbsoluteCare, we serve the most vulnerable individuals in America. These are our neighbors, people who are at higher risk for disease or who have multiple, complex, chronic illnesses. Often, they deal with an unequal healthcare system and wind up seeking basic care from emergency rooms. We take these patients out of those spaces and turn them into members: people who are entitled to some of the best, most focused care this country has to offer.

We call this “care beyond medicine.” We have turned the doctor’s office into a comprehensive care center. Here, we surround our members with a core care team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and medical assistants who have the time and skills to get to know our members’ needs. We make the most important services available to our members under one roof. This includes a pharmacy, X-rays, a blood lab, nutrition services, urgent care, and much more.

We don’t stop at our four walls. We engage members in the communities where we all live to find the people who need us most. Through these community care teams, we remove the barriers to healthcare that so many people face daily. And it works.

Our unique care is guided by our core values of accountability, caring, trust, and teamwork. We call it ACT2.

AbsoluteCare, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, genetics, protected Veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law or policy.
