Job Summary
The Member Data Specialist (MDS) is an integral member of the team, providing direct support to local markets on member data research. The MDS serves as the subject matter expert (SME) in the accuracy of member demographic data with the primary goal of having the most up to date information for teams to locate our members to connect them with services. The MDS is responsible for searching for updated contact information in various systems, direct outreach to members, next of kin, or community agencies to confirm contact information, accurate data entry of new or updated information into the electronic medical record (EMR), communication to various outreach staff, and process improvements or standardization as needed.
The MDS is the SME for the organization’s member demographic data. The MDS may provide support across multiple markets and is expected to understand any nuances in systems, outreach staff, and outreach lists between markets.
The MDS promotes the mission, vision, and values of AbsoluteCare and extends 5-star customer service in all interactions. The is a remote work position.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather information from various systems (demographic tools, Health Information Exchange (HIE) sites, Google, etc for members who we have been given bad contact information for
- Build relationships with pharmacies and community providers and leverage relationships to connect with members
- Daily telephonic outreach to members, next of kin, or community agencies to confirm demographic information and introduce AbsoluteCare
- Document daily outreach activities in electronic health record
- Share search results back to outreach teams in an organized and consistent manner
- Complete extensive research for each bad demographic referrals and exhaust all opportunities for locating new contact information
- Create processes and procedures for referrals for investigation and ongoing research if initial referral does not yield successful contact
- Owner of the Contact Data Tool and responsible for enhancements
- Collaborate with tech teams to build processes and work flows for referrals into MDS worklist
- Create and manage a process for any returned mailings, including collection at the local level, referrals for data search, and reporting
- Assist members in updating demographic information with their health plan when new information leads to contact with a member
- Work closely with the outreach teams for referrals and information sharing
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of data entry experience
- Excellent organizational and observational skills
- Highly analytical
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate Degree or higher preferred
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and electronic medical record documentation required.
- Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work closely with co-workers remotely and possibly in different time zones and geographical areas
Working conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and remotely from home office space. This role routinely uses general office equipment. May share workspace with other staff.
Physical requirements
- Ability to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information constantly.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- Constantly operates computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine, phone, and other general office equipment.
- Ability to occasionally move objects up to 20 lbs.
