Job Summary
This role transports AbsoluteCARE medical patients to and from many different medical venues including appointments for AbsoluteCARE office, home, hospital, emergency room. Extensive knowledge of local routes and roads and the ability to navigate them efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide 5-Star customer service and act as an AbsoluteCARE ambassador.
- Transport AbsoluteCARE medical patients to and from appointments and help gain access to the appropriate level of medical care.
- Operate 7+ passenger van, tire changing equipment, First Aid Kit, wheelchair lift, dollies/hand trucks.
- Operate vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with DOT Regulations and all traffic laws.
- Keep accurate and complete logs of all travel activity and passenger issues.
- Conduct vehicle emergency repairs; able to change tires and handle minor on-road maintenance. Coordinates and logs all appropriate vehicle maintenance in a timely manner.
- Keep van clean.
- Able to change transport schedules on very quick notice and coordinate transport per the AbsoluteCARE patient’s needs.
- Maintain cellular contact with office to respond to necessary route updates or resolve passenger issues.
- Assist in activities, special programs as needed and a constant team player.
- Maintain the security and privacy of all information that is owned by AbsoluteCARE or maintained on behalf of the company’s patients, employees, and business partners.

Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years full-time experience providing vehicle transportation to passengers with medical needs or disability needs.
- Great experience and track record with 5-star customer service.
- Commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement preferred.
- First Aid certification preferred.
- CPR certification required, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Satisfactory motor vehicle record and criminal history record; ability to pass a full background check.
- Maintain valid driver's license, physical exam certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage adverse passenger behavior with a non-confrontational demeanor, needs a high degree of patience, and can deal with different patient’s needs/fears/anger.
- Must meet physical qualifications for DOT physical with or without approved waivers.
- Must be able to rapidly identify passenger emergencies, notify the facility, and apply appropriate methods to resolve the situation.
- Basic computer skills including competency with Microsoft Outlook or similar scheduling tools.
- Ability to change a vehicle tire and other basic vehicle maintenance services
- Ability to use in-vehicle GPS navigation system
Working conditions
This role may be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Usually work outdoors and within a motor vehicle, minimal time spent in professional office environment. May be exposed to contaminants and the diseases and infections carried by patients. May be exposed to hazardous driving conditions. Work within several inches of passengers that require assistance boarding.
Physical requirements
- Able to safely load and unload wheelchair passengers, in accordance with Company procedures, and operate a lift for ambulatory passengers who cannot navigate the van steps.
- Ability to lift to 60 lbs.
- Job may be physically demanding at times.
- Remain stationary for long periods of time.
- Repetitious movements.
- Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
